about faith
Faith (formerly Panayota Haloulakou) is a versatile vocalist, composer, and educator whose work spans jazz, experimental music, Greek art songs, and original compositions inspired by poetry and healing texts. Her artistry blends musical mastery with energetic awareness, exploring the voice as both an instrument and an energy system.
Her early vocal journey began in a professional adult choir in Greece, touring major venues across the country, and later evolved through classical training and advanced study with Mary Klimek and the Estill Voice Training System. This work illuminated the anatomy and expressive potential of her voice. Faith’s artistic path has also been shaped by mentors including jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan, soprano saxophonist and composer Steve Lacy, jazz educator and saxophonist Allan Chase, and pianist-composer Frank Carlberg, as well as by the enduring influence of musical visionaries such as J.S. Bach, Carmen McRae, and Guinga.
Beyond technique, Faith integrates energy healing and mind–body practices that include Eden Energy Medicine, Body & Brain Yoga & Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Reiki, and somatic embodiment work. Her unique approach fosters vocal awareness, healthy technique, and creative expansion. She is deeply committed to guiding others toward authentic expression and the transformative power of the voice.
A Fulbright scholar and a graduate of the New England Conservatory (Master of Music), Faith now serves on the jazz faculty of NEC’s Expanded Education Division. She has released five recordings as a leader and continues to explore music as energy — bridging performance, healing, and expression in service of elevating the human spirit.
